From 2003–2014, Michael held several investment banking positions within the Erste Group Bank AG and led a large number of capital markets and M&A transactions in Austria, Germany and CEE (CS, CR, RO, UA). His last position was Head of Corporate Finance and ECM for Austria and Germany

From 2010 to 2013, Michael worked and (to a limited degree) lived in Romania, advising the Romanian Government on the further development of the Romanian capital market and executed (besides other transactions), the largest to date Romanian capital markets privatisation in Romania (Romgaz)
